South Plains Mall logo

This is the logo I created for South Plains Mall. I chose to use brown as the color to give the sense of the familiar brown paper shopping bag. I wanted to create dimensions within the bag to remind people of an escalator and give them a feeling of going further into the mall. I chose this font because I wanted something large, bold and simple, with the font starting large at the bottom and smaller the further you get into the bag.
This is my South Plains Mall logo, which I have changed quite a bit. I wanted to stick with the bag theme and the brown color. I used negative space inside the brown circle to create the look of the bag with the text inside it. I also wanted to keep the idea of going further into the mall and I think the negative space of the bag inside the brown circle still does that.  I liked the simplicity of this logo. South Plains Mall original logo is very busy, uses a lot of colors and isn't very attention grabbing.

To go along with the theme of simplicity, I decided to use a sans serif and keep everything lowercase. I kept the bag fairly centered with the handle leaning to the right to guide the eye. The alignment of the bag isn't completely uniform and centered, which I think contrasts well in terms of the simplicity of the entire logo.I decided to put the shopping bag inside of the circle because it gives an encompassing feel. I want people to look at this and get the feeling that South Plains Mall has everything they need when they want to go shopping. I chose the brown color because it reminds you of the typical, brown bag you get when you go shopping. It also doesn't look similar to a certain store's bag, which I think makes it more unique and avoids seeming like it is advertising for a certain brand.

I didn't want anything on the business card to be exactly centered, which is why I have the logo bleeding off the card. I also think with the logo bleeding off the card it gives the feeling that it's going somewhere, like it's on its way to the mall to do some shopping. I also text wrapped the info along the right edge of the logo to create a flow for eye. I decided to have the leading at a higher number between the "John Johnson District Manager" and the address to differentiate between the two. I decided to bold his name to set it apart even more because his name is a little more important than the rest of the card and needs to reflect that.

The image from sxc.hu by Yez, was chosen because I wanted it to portray people enjoying their mall experience with a QR code in the corner, which will take the user to southplainsmall.com.
With the envelope, I did basically the same thing as I did with the business card by bleeding the logo off the envelope and text wrapping the information along the right edge to maintain consistency. I wanted the logo to align at the top of the envelope and slightly bleed off, to give people the feeling that the logo is on its way off, like it's going shopping. I also didn't want the logo to overwhelm the envelope, only to enhance it.

As with the business card and envelope, I put the logo bleeding off the edge with the information text wrapped to the right of the logo to maintain consistency. With the letterhead, I could have put the logo in the middle and made it huge, but I also didn't want it to overwhelm the page. It is only there to enhance and get the point across, which I think it does a good job of.
